About Health & Safety

The Health and Safety Department offers general advice, guidance and support to the University population. The team consists of three members – the Health and Safety Adviser, the Health and Safety Officer and the Health and Safety Administrator.

As health and safety practitioners, all advice is independent and impartial. Working closely with the members of the Occupational Health department, the team’s functions include, amongst others:

  • developing policy
  • facilitating health and safety training and inductions
  • carrying out health and safety inspections
  • recording, analysing and investigating, accidents and incidents
  • liaising with external regulatory bodies, for example the Health and Safety Executive
  • advising on relevant legislation and providing professional advice on matters of general health and safety, in particular, advising the Principal and the Court on the strategy and formulation of its Health and Safety Policy
